Important API Changes Coming Soon

Tenable is enhancing the Tenable Vulnerability Management and Tenable Web App Scanning APIs to better reflect data presented in the user interface.

On May 30, 2023, Tenable will make enhancements to the API to ensure consistency in user interface data and data served through the API. This ensures that user interface data such as dashboards, reports, workbenches, and the licensing page will reconcile with data served through the API. No action is required for customers.

The date that these enhancements become active in your organization's containers will vary since the enhancements are rolling out progressively. Customers will be notified three weeks in advance by email and in-product before the enhancements are made to their organization's containers.

What do customers need to do?

No action is required from customers. The changes to customer containers will occur automatically. The interface to the updated API endpoints will remain unchanged and customers will not need to upgrade or rewrite any of their API integrations or obtain new API keys.

After this change is implemented, you may notice different counts of assets and/or vulnerabilities when exporting data from your container. This is expected, but the new totals will now reconcile with the user interface.

Which API endpoints are being updated?

All API endpoints for the workbenches, their export functionality, and the dashboards will be updated. In addition, scan detail endpoints will be affected, but not scan triggering or scan management endpoints. No disruption in service is anticipated and no changes need to be made to your applications or integrations utilizing these API endpoints.

The following is a non-inclusive list of the affected endpoints:
