License Types
A Tenable Identity Exposure license enables one or more features: Indicators of Exposure, Indicators of Attack, or both. Most endpoints require a license that includes a particular feature, and each endpoint's description names the license types it accepts with a short code, such as ioe.
License Type Codes
| Code | Feature | Description |
|---|---|---|
ioe | Indicators of Exposure | Analysis of your Active Directory (AD) configuration, including Indicators of Exposure, deviances, and compliance scores. |
ioa | Indicators of Attack | Detection of attacks on your AD, including Indicators of Attack and the attacks they detect. |
ioaPreview | Indicators of Attack (preview) | An earlier preview edition of Indicators of Attack. |
How License Types Apply to Endpoints
The license line in an endpoint's description takes one of two forms:
- "Requires the
ioelicense type." The license must include that feature. - "Requires one of the following license types: …" The license must include at least one of the listed features. For example, an endpoint that lists
ioa,ioaPreview, andioeis available with any Tenable Identity Exposure license that includes Indicators of Exposure or Indicators of Attack.
An endpoint whose description names no license type, such as Get instance details, does not require a particular feature.
License types are separate from permissions. A request must satisfy both: the license must include a feature the endpoint accepts, and the user's roles must grant the permissions in the endpoint's permission callout. For more information, see Identity Exposure Permissions.
Check Your License
To see which features your license includes, use the Get license details endpoint. The features array lists the codes. The response also gives the license's type, such as PROD, its expiration date, and its user limit:
{
"features": ["ioa", "ioe"],
"type": "PROD",
"expirationDateUTC": "2027-01-31T00:00:00.000Z",
"maxActiveUserCount": 5000,
"currentActiveUserCount": 1240
}The response includes more properties than this example shows. For how Tenable counts users, and what happens when a license expires or exceeds its user limit, see Manage Your License in the Tenable One Identity Exposure SaaS User Guide.
