Set up access to the Tenable Vulnerability Management API

To set up access to the Vulnerability Management API:

• Verify that you have a valid user account with appropriate permissions by logging into Tenable Vulnerability Management.
• Generate the API keys for the account. For more information, see [Generate API Keys] (https://docs.tenable.com/vulnerability-management/Content/Settings/my-account/GenerateAPIKey.htm) in the Tenable Vulnerability Management User Guide. You can also perform the following steps to generate an API token for the Vulnerability Management account.

Generate API Tokens for a Tenable Vulnerability Management Account

To generate API Keys for your own account:

1. Do one of the following:
   • In Vulnerability Management, in the left navigation plane, click Settings.

     The Settings page appears.

   • Click the My Account tile.

     The My Account page appears, where you can view and update your account details.

   • In the upper-right corner, click the user profile icon.

     The user account menu appears.

2. Click the API Keys tab.

   The API Keys section appears.

3. Click Generate.

   The Generate API Keys window appears with a warning.

   Caution: Any existing API keys are replaced when you click the Generate button. You must update the applications where the previous API keys were used.

4. Review the warning and click Generate.

   Vulnerability Management generates new access and secret keys and displays the new keys in the Custom API Keys section of the page.

5. Copy the new access and secret keys to a safe location.

   Caution: Be sure to copy the access and secret keys before you close the API Keys tab. After you close this tab, you cannot retrieve the keys from Vulnerability Management.

Set up access to the Tenable Cloud Security API

To set up access to the Cloud Security API:

• Verify that you have a valid user account with appropriate permissions by logging into Tenable Cloud Security.
• Generate the API keys for the account. You can perform the following steps to generate an API token for the Cloud Security account.

Generate API Tokens for a Tenable Cloud Security Account

You can generate API Tokens to authenticate any application with Tenable Cloud Security.

1. In Cloud Security, in the left navigation bar, click Integrations.

   The Integrations window appears.

2. Click API Tokens.

   The API Tokens window appears.

3. Do one of the following:

• To generate a new API token:

  1. Click Click to generate an API token.

  2. Click the copy button to copy the corresponding API token.

• To copy an existing API token, click the copy button to copy the API token.
