Creates an initiative.

An initiative is a project used to remediate vulnerabilities within a defined time frame. Initiatives use combinations to track specific findings and asset tags to define the assets in scope. You can assign initiatives to your team, set SLAs, and monitor progress using remediation scan results.

Note: Each user can create up to 10 initiatives. Administrators can assign other users as initiative owners. Non-administrators can create initiatives but can assign only themselves as the owner.

Requires the Basic [16] user role or one of the following custom role privileges: VM.VM_ER.VM_ER.CREATE for Vulnerability Management or EXPOSURE_MANAGEMENT.EM_ER.EM_ER.CREATE for Exposure Management. See Roles.

Specifies the name of the initiative.

Specifies the description of the initiative.

Specifies the unique identifier (UUID) of the user to assign as the initiative owner.

Administrators can assign other users as initiative owners. Non-administrators can create initiatives, but can only assign themselves as the owner.

Specifies the number of days within which the initiative's findings must be remediated to meet the service level agreement (SLA). For example, to set an SLA of one week, enter 7.

Specifies the tag values that define the asset scope of the initiative. Each UUID corresponds to a tag value assigned to one or more assets. You can retrieve a list of tag values using the List tag values endpoint.

Note: You can define a maximum of 10 tag value UUIDs.

Specifies the private or shared combinations to use as filters within the initiative. You can retrieve a list of private or shared combinations using the List combinations endpoint with the type parameter set to private or shared.

Combinations define which resources the initiative tracks and work together with asset tags to establish the initiative's scope. For more information, see Manage Combinations in the Tenable Vulnerability Management User Guides.

Note: Initiatives can contain no more than 17 queries across all combinations. For example, if you add four combinations to an initiative, and each combination contains five queries (for a total of 20), you will not be able to create the initiative.

You can retrieve a list of Tenable-provided combinations using the List combinations endpoint with the type parameter set to tenable.
